If
you like to sing in the shower, this new Jim Reeves CD from VoiceMasters
is for you. It
contains 12 melodic gems from the irreplaceable Mr. Reeves, whose
smooth, velvet tones are showcased in all new instrumental settings.
Using
rare and previously unreleased material, VoiceMasters is once again proud
to premier a CD of rarities that features some of Jim's most
unforgettable songs that you're going to want to sing along with
or even dance to.
Award-winning
arrangers, musicians and background vocalists have been brought
together to combine talents on this project. The result is simply
stunning. The 24-bit digital audio is rich and crystal clear
for superb stereo sound. And as every fan knows, listening to Jim Reeves
sing makes you feel so good.
As
with our previous CD of overdubs, we have taken a gentle approach
in our musical arrangements so as not to overshadow that magnificent
voice. As you listen, you're realize anew that Jim Reeves could
never sing a less-than-stellar note.
The
new CD opens with a previously unreleased version of the pop-influenced
"Need
Me"
that Jim wrote and sings with elegance. Just listen to that mellow
trombone and those lush strings! Mr. Reeves is at his quintessential
best on this compelling love song.
An
all new rendition of "Yours" features a lively Calypso arrangement
that would make Jimmy Buffet envious. (Try taking the CD to your
local country music dance club and watch the floor fill up with
dancers as they play that number!)
Our
release of "Deep
Dark Water"
marks the first time fans will hear an overdub that presents
Jim's vocal track with such clarity and in the way in which
he recorded it. (When RCA released its version back in 1967,
they speeded it up and made the pitch higher).
You
won't believe what we've done with "I'm Beginning to
Forget You,"
making it a song that will no doubt achieve a lot of radio airplay
around the world. In fact, it would make a great single. Singer
Beverly Daggerhart does a bit of a duet with Jim. Milton Smith
orchestrated it and famed gospel singer Wesley....did the vocal
arranging under the direction of Larry Jordan, who produced the
CD.
Speaking
of duets, Blue Boy Bobby Dyson sings with Jim on a bouncy version
of "I'm
Gonna Change Everything," with this one featuring strings.
It's a real toe-tapper that Jim had fun singing.
One
of the prettiest songs Jim ever sang was "My Happiness" -- another unreleased
vocal.
The
title track is a demo that Mary Reeves and RCA never overdubbed
or put out. We've given "Heartbreakin' Baby" a compelling country
sound. Jim sings it with an informality that contrasts with his
more formal interpretation of "Need Me."
One
of Jim's personal favorites was "Blue Boy," which he even named
his band after. On this rendition, Mr. Reeves sings it in a real
jazzy style, and Milton Smith's piano compliments the mood, along
with an orchestra and smooth new background vocals in the style
of Anita Kerr.
When
Jim recorded his first breakthrough hit, "Mexican Joe,"
he sang it in a style that was more like Webb Piece, a popular
chart-topper of the day. In later years, Jim revisited this song
and recorded it in his more polished style. Our version of "Mexican
Joe"
represents the true flowering of Reeves' mature artistic sensibility.
A
country classic made famous by Charlie Rich is "I Don't
See Me In Your Eyes Anymore." But nobody could sing it better
than Jim. This song is newly reprocessed for a better sound,
and overdubbed.
Another
tune that has never been released by RCA or overdubbed before
is the catchy "Standby", You're going to
love our treatment of it, which sounds a lot like Chet Atkins'
guitar work but was actually played by arranger/musician David
Johnson.
The
final musical selection on the CD is an effervescent arrangement
on "White
Christmas"
that is sure to become a holiday favorite of yours for many years
to come.
BONUS! We're proud that famed country music
deejay Bill mack has described these VoiceMasters overdubs CDs
as "A collector's dream" come true. He says they are
"HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL!"
As
a surprise for fans, we are proud to present the rarest, most
intimate interview with Jim Reeves known to exist, conducted
by famed country music deejay Bill Mack. In the 33-minute interview Jim is expansive, talking about
country
music,
artists he has known like Hank Williams, and even personal details about
his life and interests! You will get a close-up view of Jim like
you've never had before. It's like you've gone out to dinner
with Jim and are having a relaxed and intimate chat!
